About
I am a Norwegian philosopher who has spent most of his career in Trondheim, Norway, with long stays in Germany and the US. 2004-2009 I was the Norwegian Henrik Steffens guest professor at The Humboldt University of Berlin. I have written much about Jürgen Habermas, most recently on his view of religion (the last contribution in Brunkhorst et al (eds.): Habermas Handbuch, Metzler Verlag Stutgart 2009, article "Religion, Metaphysik und Freiheit.") I have worked and taught much on Carl Schmitt, Husserl, Heidegger, Nietzsche, Niklas Luhmann, Hans Blumenberg and Reinhart Koselleck, with publications mostly in Norwegian. The stay in Berlin resulted in an interest in The North as compared to other mytho-historical directions.
